Prague 3 takes up a vertical strip eastwards from the Old Town (beyond Florenc Coach Station and Main Railway Station). Generally identified with Zizkov area, it includes also small parts of Vinohrady, Vysocany, and Strasnice.
Hotels in Prague 3 are great for everybody who looks for a good price / location: if you do not mind walking, it’s possible to reach centre in 10-30 minutes. In Prague 3 (Zizkov) was working-class area, but times are changing. Zizkov is now in demand for luxurious apartments and offices, but you will still find neglected areas. Zizkov has interesting local colour (if you want to see typically Czech pubs not for tourists) and if you do not behave in an offensive way, it is a pleasant and safe area. A hotel in Prague 3 is a reasonable choice also if you wish to climb the tallest structure in Prague (TV Tower in Zizkov) or the Vitkov Hill with National Monument and the biggest equatrian statue in the world.
