Prague 1 is by far the most popular Prague district. It comprises the mediaeval areas originating from the 9th to the 14th centuries: Stare Mesto (Old Town), Josefov (historic Jewish neighbourhood) on the right side of the Vltava River and atmospheric Mala Strana (Lesser Quarter) and Hradcany (the area around huge Prague Castle). Both river banks are spanned by the famous Charles Bridge. Additionally, this district has a part of the historic Nove Mesto (New Town), and marginal parts of Holesovice, and Vinohrady areas.
Hotels in Prague 1 deservedly boast the best location, because this dictrict is associated as the core city centre. If you come as a tourist, it is definitely worth to stay in a very central Prague hotel, on a charming old cobbled street or a winding lane. There are some of the best and most-renowned Prague hotels. The relative drawbacks can be: highest prices in town (sometimes lower value/ price if you are after comfort) difficult parking possibilities and in some cases noise from the streets. The centre leads an active cosmopolitan life and everyone who looks for a wealth of culture options will not be disaapointed.
