Veleslavin is a quarter of an elongated shape, lying west of the city centre in the administrative district Prague 6. You can take a trip either to the Brevnov monastery (the oldest monastery in Bohemia, founded in 993 by St. Adalbert), or to the Hvezda Enclosure, which is dominated by the Hvezda Summer Palace (a star-shaped Renaissance hunting lodge) from here. The notorious battle of the White Mountain took place nearby in 1620. A few hotels have been run in this quarter, so it is possible to stay right here, if you like it. Other accommodation possibilities are provided by the nearby Brevnov and Stresovice hotels.
