Holesovice district is situated inside a bend of the Vltava River, north of the city centre. It’s accessible by underground (Line C, Stations: Vltavska, Nadrazi Holesovice). You can take a pleasant walk through Letenska Plain, where manifestations and concerts occasionally take place. From 1955 to 1962 a 15-metres- high statue of Stalin was placed here overlooking the Vltava. In 1962 the biggest statue in the world was destroyed after discreditating campaign against Stalin. Another interesting site are the Exhibition Grounds in Stromovka Park, where Jubilee exhibitions have been held. The number of hotels in this quarter is comparatively high.
