Hlubocepy is a large quarter south of the Prague centre, lying on the left bank of the Vltava. It belongs to the administrative district Prague 5. Visitors can find here several attractions of various kinds: the lovely Prokopske valley (excavations of primeval people, St. Procopius should have been temptated by devil here); the so-called Prague Semmering (a railway track dating back to the 1870s with two more than 20-metres high viaducts, resembling the one located in Semmering in the Alps); the protected scenic area of Barrandova Rock adjoining the Film Studios Barrandov. A good access to main roads is provided from this district (motorways D1&D5, the road R4 to the southern Bohemia). Only a few hotels are run in the neighborhood. A good alternative may be the Smichov hotels, or the hotels in Nusle, Podoli & Branik, situated on the opposite bank of the Vltava River.
